✨ DAY 8 ON THE 12 DAY JOURNEY: UNLOCKING THE IDENTITY OF JESUS CHRIST

The Eternal Word, The Name JESUS, The Light of the World

Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father,

We thank You for Your Word—the Word of Life, the Eternal Word that was with You and is You. As we unlock the identity of Jesus Christ, we ask that You grant wisdom and revelation to every viewer and reader. Open their spiritual ears to hear what the Spirit is speaking, and open their hearts to receive truth with understanding.
Jesus, You are the Eternal Word, the Name above every name, and the Light of the world. Let Your light shine into every place of darkness, confusion, and uncertainty. As Your Word goes forth, let it bring clarity, conviction, and transformation. We yield this time to You, Holy Spirit. Teach us, guide us, and reveal Christ in us, the hope of glory.

In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

Let’s weave John 1:1–14 together with Luke 1–2 and Matthew 1–4 into one seamless teaching. This way, it shows that:

The Word was eternal (John 1).
The name JESUS was revealed before birth (Luke 1–2, Matthew 1).
The mission of light and salvation was fulfilled in Galilee (Matthew 4).

1. The Eternal Word (John 1:1–3)

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

Before time began, the Word (Christ) already existed with God and was God.
Everything was created through Him.

➡️ Jesus did not begin in Bethlehem — He is eternal God.

2. The Word is Life and Light (John 1:4–5, 9)

“In him was life; and the life was the light of men… That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.”

Jesus is the source of all life and the Light that exposes darkness.
Darkness cannot overcome Him.

➡️ His mission: to bring life and light into a dark world.

3. The Word Became Flesh (John 1:14)

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us… full of grace and truth.”

The eternal Word put on humanity.
“Dwelt” = tabernacled → just as God’s presence once filled the tabernacle, now it filled Jesus.

➡️ God Himself stepped into flesh → Immanuel, God with us.

4. His Name Revealed Before Birth (Luke 1:31; Luke 2:21)

The angel told Mary: “Thou shalt call his name JESUS.”

The angel confirmed to Joseph: “Thou shalt call his name JESUS, for he shall save his people from their sins.”

On the 8th day (Luke 2:21), His name was given as the angel declared before conception.

➡️ His eternal identity was matched with His earthly name → JESUS = Savior.

5. Prophecy Fulfilled in His Mission (Matthew 4:14–16)

Isaiah 9:1–2 was fulfilled when Jesus began preaching in Galilee:

“The people which sat in darkness saw great light.”

Galilee = despised region, “Galilee of the Gentiles.”
Jesus chose the place of rejection to shine first.

➡️ His light shone in the darkest place — proving He is the Savior for all, Jew and Gentile.

6. His Message Declared (Matthew 4:17)

“From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

  • His name = JESUS (Savior).
  • His mission = to call people out of darkness into light.
  • His message = Repent, turn, receive the kingdom.

Application for Us

Eternal Word → Jesus is not limited to history, He is eternal.
Given Name → His identity and purpose were established before His birth.
Light in Darkness → He shines in our darkest places.
Invitation → If we receive Him, we become children of God (John 1:12).

Closing Prayer & Invitation to Salvation

Father God,
We thank You for revealing Jesus Christ—Your Son, our Savior, the Light that shines in darkness and cannot be overcome. Today, we pray for every soul that has encountered this teaching. If there is anyone who has not yet surrendered their life to Christ, we invite them now to come into the fullness of salvation.

If you are listening and desire to receive Jesus, pray this prayer:

Lord Jesus,
I repent of my sins and turn my heart toward You. I believe that You are the Son of God, that You died for my sins, and that You rose again with all power. I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, and I believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead. I receive You today as my Savior and my King. Come into my life, forgive me, and make me new.

Thank You for saving me. Thank You for Your grace, Your mercy, and Your eternal life. I now walk in Your light, in Jesus’ name.

Amen.

Summary Statement:

The eternal Word who was with God and was God (John 1) stepped into flesh (John 1:14). His name, JESUS, was revealed before His conception (Luke 1–2; Matthew 1) to declare His mission: to save His people from their sins. That mission was fulfilled as the Light shone in Galilee (Matthew 4), proving that no darkness is too deep for His grace and truth.
